Sumas Teen Dies After Being Struck By Vehicle

SUMAS, WA– The Washington State Patrol Responded to a fatal crash involving a Sumas Teen on a bicycle and a pickup truck around 4:30 pm on January 27th, 2016.

According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, 14 year old Jordan Sant of Sumas, was riding his bicycle Northbound on (Kendall Road) State Route 547 near Limestone Road in Sumas when he was struck by a Northbound,  1998 Dodge Pickup, driven by Craig Roberts, 45 of Maple Falls.  The teen, who was not wearing a helmet, died at the scene.

The press memo states the driver of the truck was not injured. The bicycle was impounded to the Washington State Patrol Bullpen in Whatcom County.

The press memo states drugs or alcohol were not suspected in the crash.

The press memo states the cause of the crash is listed as “failure to yield right of way.” and no charges are pending.
