AMBER ALERT: Kidnapped Child May Be In Washington State

Rogersville, Tennessee– On the afternoon of Wednesday, May 4th, 2016, 57-year old Gary Simpson, removed 9-year old Carlie Marie Trent from Hawkins Elementary School in Rogersville, Tennessee, under false pretenses.

Gary Simpson, who is listed as an approved person to pick up the child from school, allegedly lied to school officials and told them that Carlie’s father, James Trent,  had been in a car accident and that she would most likely  not be into school on Thursday.

Gary Simpson is Carlies Uncle by marriage and is  married to Carlie’s-fathers-sister, Linda Simpson.   The Simpsons  had previous custodial rights to Carlie but currently have no custodial rights to the girl, as her  father, James Trent was recently awarded custody again of Carlie.  Mr. Trent had not yet notified school officials of the change of custody, so officials allowed Mr. Simpson to sign Carlie out of class. Officials did not elaborate on the custodial issues.
