Swinomish Tribe Forces Resignation of Multiple Police Officers

Skagit County, Washington- SkagitBreaking.com has learned that some governing members of the Swinomish Tribe have reportedly forced the resignation of several top Swinomish Police Department Officials.

Early today SkagitBreaking.com learned that the Swinomish  Police Chief, the Assistant Police Chief, A Sergeant and a Patrol Officer were all forced to resign or risk being terminated because the Swinomish Tribe said they wanted to “take the Police Department in a different direction.”  The Police Officials forced resignation appear to stem from politics inside the Tribe instead of any disciplinary actions, scandals or Police department shortcomings  within the Swinomish Police Department.

SkagitBreaking.com reviewed the Swinomish Police Departments Facebook page and found it to be filled with positive support for the Swinomish Police Department with a 4.6 out of 5.0 rating. In the current era of people disliking police for doing their job, this rating seemed to represent that the community was happy with the direction the Swinomish Police Department was already heading.

One Comment from Kyle J. Bailey  said “Building trust, giving us useful information & tools, showing us the end results (example, the report & including pictures of the weapons from the other day). I definitely feel more comfortable knowing that we as a community can make more calls with confidence & it can be anonymous if need be, & taken seriously. Thank you Swin PD.”

A post from July 8th, 2016, shows a community member “Diane” standing with an unidentified Officer after she stopped   by with a load of food & drink to let the  Swinomish Officers know how important and appreciated they are in light of the recent news headlines. “Thank you so much Dianne! This means so much to us! “the Facebook post read.

A comment under the same photo from Monica N James Weidert  a drug addiction advocate in Skagit County said “That guy was pivotal in equipping his officers with Narcan. A hero in my book!

SkagitBreaking.com reached out to the Swinomish Police Department on Several occasions today requesting information on the forced resignation of these loyal Police Officers and our requests for information went unanswered.
SkagitBreaking.com also tried reaching out to the Police Officers themselves without success.

What does this mean for the residents who rely on these Officers to Serve and Protect the Swinomish  Community? We don’t know yet.

This is a developing breaking news story and we will update the story as more information  becomes available to us.
