Glen’s camping companion reported him missing on the morning of the 14th and also provided information to searchers about the timeline and events leading up to Glen’s departure from camp on the evening of the 13th to go fishing.
Search operations were conducted July 14th with several search boats on the lake. During the initial day of searching the only clue located was one oar that was confirmed to be from the boat Glen was in. Search operations continued July 15th with more boats on the lake and Customs and Border Protection assisting with air support.
An additional three days of search operations were conducted on the 15th, 16th, and 17th with no additional clues found related to Mr. Richardson or the boat he was in on the evening of the 13th. All search days included search parties on boats, Canine Units, and CBP Air providing eyes in the sky.
We also received assistance on the lake from WA Department of Fish and Wildlife and the U.S. Forest Service. We made a substantial effort to spread the word to fisherman on the lake to be on the look-out for items associated with the missing boat.
The Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue coordinator also met with Glen’s family members to show them the area where he camped and reportedly went fishing.
The family was notified of the intention of the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office to suspend the search to which they expressed understanding and appreciation for the efforts that had been undertaken so far to locate Glen.
The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office will continue to check the area and have notified persons in the general vicinity as well.
