Woman Airlifted To Harborview After Motorcycle Crash Near Bow

Skagit County, WA – The Washington State Patrol responded to a Vehicle vs Motorcycle Crash on Bayview Edison Road near Sullivan Road, 5 miles West of Bow around 11:29 am on October 23rd, 2016.

According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, 42-year old Christen Gray of Lake Stevens was riding a silver 2003 Yamaha XVS11A Motorcycle Northbound on Bayview Edison road when she  attempted to pass three vehicles at once.

The lead vehicle in the line of cars she was attempting to pass, a black 1997 Chevrolet pickup, driven by 70-year old Charles R. Shadle of Mount Vernon,   made a left hand turn onto a  hunting access road near Sullivan Road. The motorcycle rider was unable to stop in time and put  the motorcycle down where it slid on the pavement  and struck the drivers door of the turning vehicle.

The motorcycle rider was seriously injured and was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle by Airlift Northwest. The press memo says she was wearing a DOT compliant helmet and had a valid motorcycle endorsement.  The motorcycle was totaled and impounded by Joes Towing for safe keeping.

The driver of the truck was not injured and was released at the scene. A passenger in the truck, 32-year old Charles C.  Shadle of Mukilteo was not injured and also released at the scene. The truck was towed  by Peters Towing.

The Cause of the crash is listed as Following Too Close and Inattention.

Charges are pending against the motorcycle rider for following too close.
