Impaired Driver Slams Into Parked WSP Vehicle on I-5

Snohomish County, WA – The Washington State Patrol responded to a two car crash on Northbound I-5 near 128th Street Southwest around 10:30 am  on November 10th, 2016.

According to a press release from the Washington State Patrol, WSP Trooper Will Collier was parked along the left should of Northbound I-5 at milepost 186 conducting speed emphasis patrols in a fully marked  2011 Chevy Tahoe Washington State Patrol  vehicle.

A Northbound 2002 Dodge Caravan driven by 51-year old Louis Goyette of Burien drifted off the roadway to the left and struck the right rear of the Troopers vehicle.

Both drivers were  injured and transported to Providence Hospital for treatment. Troopers believe the causing driver, Mr. Goyette was possibly impaired at the time of the crash and obtained a search warrant for a blood draw.  The results of the blood draw have not been made public.

Both vehicles were impounded to the Washington State Patrol District 7 bullpen for safe keeping.

The cause of the crash is listed as under investigation and charges are pending against the causing driver.
