High Speed Crash on M Avenue Sends Man to Hospital

Anacortes, WA – The Washington State Patrol responded to a high risk crash  in the 1800 block of “M” Avenue in Anacortes around 5:20 am on December 1st, 2016.

According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, 19-year old Nathan Tickner of Anacortes was traveling Northbound on “M” Avenue at a high rate of speed in a white 2008 Suzuki XL-7 when he lost control and struck two unoccupied  vehicles near 18th street. The press memo states Mr. Tickner then fled the scene on foot. Officers later located Mr. Tickner at his residence, where he was injured.

A passenger in the vehicle, 18 year old Connor Christenson of Anacortes was injured in the crash and transported to Island Hospital for treatment.

Troopers said  both vehicle occupants were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash, but drugs or alcohol are suspected as a contributing factor in the crash.

The vehicle was impounded to the Washington State Patrol Bullpen in Burlington.

Damaged in the crash were an unoccupied 2008 Chevrolet Express Van and a red 2001 Mazda Pickup.  Both vehicles were released to their owner.

The cause of the crash is under investigation and charges are pending against the driver.
