Bellingham, WA — Harmony Sage Lawrence, a seamstress and costume designer originally from Seattle (currently residing in Portland, OR) has just been featured by ABC News and Good Morning America for her most recent fashion project: a fall-themed, fairytale-inspired gown (completely made from used or recycled fabrics) for her wedding held on September 23rd. The gown, as well as her husband’s matching outfit, took 6 months of work, features over 2000 hand-sewn beads, 15 yards of lace and other fabrics, and was made for a total cost of less than $300.
The wedding gown will be on display starting Friday, December 2nd at Bellingham’s 20th annual Pacific Arts Market (held for three weekends at Sunset Square), as part of an annual crafts fair cooperative organized by local artisans. This will be a rare chance to see the dress in person.
ABC’s Elizabeth Murphy reached out to Lawrence after photos of the gown went viral on Reddit and Imgur, bringing the story behind the dress to hundreds of thousands of readers.
Lawrence and her husband, Sean Parker, are no strangers to photographing elaborate costumes. The couple has collaborated in whimsical, fantasy-themed photography (click here for a sample gallery) for 8 years, and took their wedding outfits on the road for several photoshoots in forests and beaches along the west coast from Gearhart, OR to the Humboldt Redwoods.
