Oak Harbor, WA – Firefighters responded to a fully involved house fire in the 4000 block of DeGraff Road in Oak Harbor around 4:36 pm on Sunday, December 18th.
According to a press release from the Island County Sheriff’s Office, three people died in the fire. The victims are a 25-year old woman and her two children, ages 3 and 5 years old.
The victim’s husband was not at home at the time of the fire but Deputies say he arrived while the fire crews were extinguishing the blaze. He is cooperating with the investigation.
Island County Deputies and Fire Personnel responded to the scene. Detectives from the Island County Sheriff’s Office and the Washington State Patrol Crime Lab as well as personnel from North Whidbey Fire and Rescue and the Oak Harbor Fire Department are currently processing the scene to determine cause and origin of the fire.
This is an ongoing investigation, and the Island County Sheriff’s Office say they will release more information when it becomes available.
