Cle Elum Woman Dies in Crash on I-90

Kittitas County, WA – The Washington State Patrol responded to a two car fatality crash on Westbound I-90 near milepost 103, West of Ellensburg around 3:42 am on January 14th, 2017.

According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, 21-year old Mariah Ellefson of Cle Elum was traveling Westbound I-90 in a white 2004 Subaru Impreza when she struck the rear of a Westbound 2014 Freightliner Semi Tractor pulling a 2005 Wabash Trailer.  The vehicle then struck a guard rail to the right and came to rest in the right lane.  The press memo says Mariah was not wearing a seat belt and died at the scene.  Her vehicle was impounded by Pittman Towing to the State Patrol Bull Pen in Ellensburg.

The driver of the semi, 49-year old Gurjit Singh of Mesa, Arizona was not injured in the crash. A passenger in the semi, 37-year old Jackito Altidor of Las Vegas, Nevada was also not injured.  The semi truck was driven from the scene.

Troopers believe that drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash and the cause of the crash is still under investigation. Potential charges are listed as under investigation.
