Bellingham, WA – Officers from the Bellingham Police Department responded to the 700 block of E. Illinois Avenue around 4:39 a.m. on March 3rd, 2017, after a resident called 9-1-1 at the request of a male who lives nearby.
Police found a 53-year old male deceased outside his residence. The male appeared to have suffered from head and facial trauma according to a press release by Danette Beckley, Bellingham Police Department Public Information Officer.
Initial indications, based on evidence at the scene, indicate there may have been some sort of fight or confrontation that led to the man’s death.
Bellingham Police do not believe this was a random act or that there is any threat to the public.
Search Warrants were served and Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators are working to gather evidence at the scene.
Bellingham Police will update the public as the investigation progresses.
The name of the victim has been withheld pending notification of next of kin.
