Bellingham, WA – Detectives from the Bellingham Police Department have made an arrest in the suspicious death that occurred on March 3rd, 2017 in the 700 block of E. Illinois Avenue in Bellingham.
According to a press release from Danette Beckley, Public Information Officer for the Bellingham Police Department, Detectives arrested 40-year old Travis James Marshall on the evening of March 3rd, 2017 for suspicion of Murder in the second degree of his roommate, 53-year old David Quintin Williams.
Police were called to the 700 block of E. Illinois Avenue early Friday morning and found Williams unresponsive in the yard near the front door of his residence. Williams had sustained significant trauma to his head and face. Bellingham medics attempted CPR on Williams but were unable to revive him and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives processed the scene and evidence collected indicated there was a fight or confrontation at the home. The suspect, Mr. Marshall had injuries consistent with being in a physical altercation.
Injuries to Marshal included a broken bone in his right hand, scratches to his right forearm and cuts on his left hand that required stitches.
When interviewed, Marshall gave several conflicting statements to Bellingham Detectives regarding the events that occurred late Thursday, March 2nd, into the early morning hours of March 3rd.
Statements from witnesses, as well as evidence at the scene, also conflict with Mr. Marshall’s version of events.
Travis James Marshall was booked into the Whatcom County Jail for investigation of Second Degree Murder for the death of his roommate, David Quintin Williams.
The press memo states that Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators will continue to work with the Medical Examiners Office and the Prosecutor’s Office on this homicide investigation.
