Skagit County, WA – The Skagit County Sheriff’s Office Responded to a 9-1-1 call in the 11000 block of Farm To Market Road for a man assaulting a woman with a machete at 10:12 p.m. on March 12th, 2017.
Initial reports are that a male who is known to the residents but does not reside at the address, assaulted a female and a male with a machete, severely injuring the two and severing one of the woman’s arms.
A medical Supervisor (MS01), Medic 3 and Fire Units from the Bay View Fire Department and Fire District 6 responded to the area and staged away from the scene while Law Enforcement secured the scene.
The suspect initially could not be found so Law Enforcement provided protection for the Fire and EMS units to enter the scene and safely remove the patients. The patients were then transported to Skagit Valley Hospital and at least one of them was then Airlifted to a hospital in Seattle.
Additional Deputies from the Skagit County Sheriff’s Office, Officers from the Mount Vernon Police Department, Troopers from the Washington State Patrol and Swinomish Tribal (Ida) Police Units responded and set up containment of the area. Police used a K-9 to track the suspect to a residence in the 12000 block of Persons Road, two miles from the original crime scene.
The suspect was taken into custody without incident by Skagit County Sheriff’s Deputies at 11:11 p.m. He was then transported to United General Hospital for treatment for injuries to his hand.
Skagit Breaking is not identifying the suspect or victims at this time and the victim’s family has requested privacy.
This is an active investigation and additional information will be released by the Skagit County Sheriff’s Office when it becomes available.
