Teen Dies After Drowning in Birch Bay Pool

Whatcom County, WA – Firefighters and ambulances rushed to a 9-1-1 call in the 7300 block of Birch Bay Drive around 2:00 p.m. on Memorial Day for reports of a teen girl who had drowned.

Bystanders performed CPR on the teen  until firefighters and medics arrived and took over. The girl was transported  to St. Josephs Hospital in Bellingham before being transferred to Seattle for continued treatment.

Whatcom County Sheriff Bill Elfo, told The Bellingham Herald,  the teen, who has not officially been identified,  passed away on Tuesday evening in Seattle.
