Jason Becktel Receives Prison Sentence for 2015 Homicide

Mount Vernon, WA – Jason Becktel, the  suspect in the 2015  New Years Day shooting death of 47-year old Allen Kesterson at a party in Birdsview  was sentenced to 18 years and nine month is prison on Monday by Skagit County Superior Court Judge Michael Rickert.

Mr. Becktel was convicted of Second-Degree Murder earlier this year after a two-week trial.

Skagit County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to reports of a shooting around 4:15 a.m. on January 1st, 2015 at a home in the 38800 block of SR 20.

Deputies found a 47-year-old man dead on the property. He was later identified as Allen Kesterson, of the Concrete area.

Jason Becktel was arrested and booked into the Skagit County Jail for investigation of 2nd degree murder after the shooting.
