Driver Dies in Crash Near Gold Bar

Snohomish County, WA – The Washington State Patrol responded to a single vehicle crash just before midnight on Eastbound State Route 2, six miles east of Gold Bar.

According to a press release from the Washington State Patrol, Charles Baughn of Gold Bar was driving a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix  Eastbound on State Route 2  approaching milepost 34 when the vehicle failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. Troopers say the vehicle left the roadway to the right, drove on the right shoulder until it struck a guard rail where it became fully engulfed in flames.

Troopers say the driver died at the scene.
