According to the Skagit County Sheriff’s Office,  the girls  family had been cooking breakfast in their cabin with a propane stove  while the girl was sleeping.  The family finished breakfast and left the cabin but forgot to turn off the propane cook stove.  When the family returned to the cabin around 12:56 p.m. they found the girl unresponsive and called 9-1-1.

Deputies say it appears to be a tragic accident and the girl most likely died from Carbon Monoxide poisoning due to the cook stove being left on indoors.  Foul play is not suspected in the incident.

The Skagit County Medical Examiner will release the official cause and manner of death.
