A friend hiking with her said she lost her footing and she tumbled down the side of the mountain.

A witness, Nathan, said “It was just a terrible thing to see. There was nothing anybody could’ve done to help her after that fall, so we called 9-1-1 and they sent out a helicopter.”

The woman was airlifted by Naval Air Station Whidbey Island Search and Rescue Crews to Skagit Valley Hospital In Mount Vernon. She was pronounced dead from her injuries.
