Mount Vernon, WA – Mount Vernon Officers responded to the 2300 block of Kulshan View Drive around 1:51 a.m. on Tuesday, August 1st, 2017 for reports of a gunshot victim.
According to a press release from Mount Vernon Police Lieutenant Chris Cammock, arriving Officers located a 38-year old man who was deceased from gunshot wounds. Officers from several agencies responded to assist with containment of the area.
In Speaking with witnesses, Police Investigators learned that several individuals came to the deceased man’s apartment and an argument ensued. Shortly thereafter, gunshots were fired and the man was hit. The suspects then fled the scene. A Skagit County Sheriff’s Office K-9 was called to the scene to assist Officers with the search for the suspects, but no one was located.
During the course of the investigation, Lt. Cammock said, Detectives learned a possible location of one of the suspects. Around noon, Mount Vernon Detectives responded to a residence in the 4300 block of 88th Street NE in Marysville, where they were assisted by Detectives from the Marysville Police Department in serving a search warrant at a residence. Detectives collected evidence from the residence and arrested a 21-year old Marysville man.
Around 6:00 p.m., investigators went to the 1500 block of North 18th Street in Mount Vernon and arrested an 18-year old Mount Vernon Man. Detectives served a search warrant at that location as well and collected additional evidence.
Both suspects were booked into the Skagit County Jail for Investigation of Murder 2nd Degree and Robbery 1st Degree.
The Crime scene on Kulshan View Drive was closed for about 12-hours while the Washington State Patrol Crime Scene Response Team assisted Detectives with processing the crime scene.
