Motorcyclist Dies in SR20 Crash Near Diablo

Skagit County, WA – The Washington State Patrol responded to a single motorcycle crash on East State Route 20 near Milepost 127, about two miles West of Diablo around 11:08 a.m. on August 19th, 2017.

According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, 36-year old Son Sokhim of Olympia was traveling at a high rate of speed on East bound State Route 20 near milepost 127 on a 2009 Yamaha YZFR1 Motorcycle.  Troopers say Mr. Sokhim was unable to negotiate a curve in the roadway and his motorcycle left the roadway to the right, striking a rock where he was ejected and came to rest in the ditch.

Mr. Sokhim had a valid motorcycle endorsement and was wearing a USDOT compliant helmet. He  died at the scene.

Troopers say the cause of the crash was speed.

The motorcycle was impounded for safe keeping by Carl’s Towing.
