Olympia Man Injured in SR20 Crash Near Diablo

Whatcom County, WA – The Washington State Patrol responded to a two vehicle crash on State Route 20  near Milepost 118 on August 27th, 2017.

According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, 63-year old Joel OESTRIECH of Olympia was traveling Westbound on State Route 20 on a black 2006 Harley Davidson FLSTCI Motorcycle.

The press memo states Mr. OESTRIECH attempted an illegal pass and struck an Eastbound 2010 Toyota Sienna van being driven by 42-year old Constance OCHS of Everett.  Mr. OESTRIECH was injured and airlifted to  Harborview Medical Center in Seattle by Airlift Northwest.

The driver of the van and two juvenile passengers in the van were not injured in the crash.

The cause of the crash is listed as Illegal Pass and charging are pending against the motorcycle driver.

MR. OESTRIECH has a valid motorcycle endorsement and was wearing a USDOT compliant helmet at the time of the crash.
