Sedro-Woolley, WA – A 23-year old Lynden Man was arrested in Sedro-Woolley on outstanding warrants for an armed Robbery he is accused of committing at the Bakerview Fred Meyer Store in Bellingham last month.
The Bellingham Herald reports that Jimmy Raymond Abitia was booked into the Whatcom County Jail around 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 6th, 2017 for third-degree theft, first-degree robbery and a Department of Corrections (DOC) Warrant.
On November 24th, 2017 ABITIA is accused of shoplifting $220.00 worth of merchandise from the Bakerview Fred Meyer Store.
A Fred Meyer Asset Protection Officer attempted to stop ABITIA as he exited the store and ABITIA pulled a semi-automatic pistol from his waistband and pointed it at the employee before jumping into a waiting vehicle and fleeing the scene.
The use of a weapon during the shoplifting theft upgraded the charges to first degree robbery. ABITIA remains jailed in Whatcom County. He is being held in lieu of $200,000 bail.
