Washington State Patrol Officials Conduct Emphasis

Snohomish, WA- On January 10, 2018 the Washington State Patrol Commercial Vehicle Division conducted an emphasis focused on State Route 522 between Monroe and Woodinville. Overweight commercial motor vehicles, and equipment and load securement violations were the target of the emphasis.     

  The Washington State Patrol Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officers, Commercial Vehicle Division troopers, and Ticketing Aggressive Cars and Trucks troopers were the units involved in conducting the emphasis. Between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. 40 driver violations, 30 equipment/weighing violations, and three out of service violations had been issued.

  Other violations issued included, unsecured loads, speeding, and overweight vehicles. All of these violations are contributors to serious injury and fatal collisions.

The traffic emphasis was possible due to citizen requests and data from the Washington State

Department of Transportation, which showed that SR 522 had the highest percent of overweight commercial motor vehicles in Washington State. The goal of the emphasis was to help make Washington roadways the safest in the nation.
