Burlington, WA- At about 8:30PM on January 20, 2018, the Burlington Police Department received a report of child abuse near the 600 Block of Anacortes Street in Burlington.
According to a press release from the Burlington Police Department, a concerned family member reported suspicious bruising and marks on a 6-year-old relative. After their initial investigation, officers took a 31-year-old man, the child’s father, into custody for investigation of assault. The Burlington man was later booked into Skagit County Jail for investigation of felony assault, including charges of assault of a child in the 1st and 2nd degree.
The 6-year-old child was taken to Skagit Valley Hospital to be evaluated for significant injuries. The child has since been released from the hospital.
In order to protect the identity of the young child, Skagit Breaking has chosen not to release the identity of the suspect.
