Whatcom County, WA– Troopers from the Washington State Patrol responded to a hit and run collision on Southbound I-5 just south of the Samish Way Exit around 9:37 p.m. on January 31st, 2018.
According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, their 9-1-1 communication center received a call that a pedestrian was walking in both lanes of travel on Southbound I-5 near milepost 250.
Troopers responded to the area and after a short search, Washington State Patrol Trooper Litovchenko found a male in the brush along Southbound I-5, just South of Samish Way. The male had suffered head trauma and leg injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle.
Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported 23-year old Lucas Brazier of Woodinville to St. Josephs Hospital in Bellingham before transferring him to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
Troopers don’t know which lane of travel Mr. Brazier was in when he was stuck by an unknown vehicle. Troopers are seeking information on the driver of the hit and run vehicle.
The cause of the incident is listed as Pedestrian in the roadway. Possible charges in the incident remain under investigation.
