Wrong Way Driver On I-5 Arrested for Vehicular Homicide

Arlington, WA-  The Washington State Patrol Responded to a wrong way driver on Southbound I-5 at milepost 208 around 4:00 pm on Sunday afternoon.

According to Washington State Patrol Trooper Travis Shearer, who Tweeted under Trooper Heather Axtman’s, Washington State Patrol District 7  Public Information Officer Twitter account, the wrong way driver got on I-5 heading Northbound in the Southbound Lanes at 116th Street in Marysville and caused four separate collisions. The final crash occurred  just South of Highway 530 on I-5 where a motorist was killed as a result of the wrong way driver.

Trooper Shearer said the causing driver has been arrested for driving under the influence and will be charged with vehicular homicide.

The Southbound Lanes of I-5 remained closed in the area  while Troopers investigate and document  the large crash scene. Troopers hope to have the scene documented and all lanes open just before 8:00 p.m. this evening.

This is an ongoing investigation and additional details will be released by the Washington State Patrol at the appropriate times.
