Body Found in Mud Lake Identified as Missing Person

Clear Lake, WA – The Skagit County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a body found floating in Mud Lake on July 2nd, 2019.

Through a Public disclosure request made to the Skagit County Sheriff’s Office by SkagitBreaking.com, we have learned that a   reporting party (RP)  called 9-1-1 and  told dispatchers that he had been Kayaking on Mud Lake in the town of Clear Lake  when he found a body of a male floating near the bank of Mud Lake Road near Hemlock Street.

Skagit County Sheriff’s Deputies had taken a missing person’s report the previous day in the same area on Mud Lake Road near a known transient camp.

Skagit County Sheriff’s Deputies along with Skagit County Search and Rescue Divers responded to the area to recover the body, which was then turned over to the Skagit County Coroner’s Office for positive identification.

On July 6th, 2019, the Skagit County Coroner’s Office Positively identified the man found in Mud Lake through fingerprints as 28-year old Timothy Cargill of Sedro-Woolley.  

Several items were recovered from the transient camp that had the missing person’s name on them, as well as clothing and two fishing poles according to police records.

It is unknown how Mr. Cargill died. The cause and manner of death as well as  toxicology reports are pending.
