Monroe Motorcyclist Dies in Crash On SR2

Snohomish County, WA – The Washington State Patrol responded to a two-vehicle crash on State Route 2 near Milepost 11, one mile west of Monroe around 11:33 a.m. on August 18th, 2019.

According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, 62-year old Terry Johnson of Monroe was traveling Westbound on State Route 2 at milepost 11 on a brown 2012 Washington Choppers Kiwi Motorcycle. Witnesses say the motorcycle  was passing cars on the two-lane highway when he crossed the centerline and struck a green 2015 Kia Soul head-on. Mr. Johnson Died at the scene.

Troopers say the Soul was  being driven by 68-year old Valery Startsev of Everett.  Mr. Startsev and a passenger, 70-year old Genrietta Startseva of Everett were both injured and transported to Providence Hospital Colby Campus for treatment.

Troopers say Mr. Johnson did not have a valid motorcycle endorsement but was wearing a USDOT compliant helmet at the time of the crash.

Both Vehicles were impounded to Dick’s Towing for Safe Keeping

The Cause of the Crash is listed as Crossing Center Line. No Charges are pending.
