Whatcom County, WA – The Washington State Patrol responded to a fatal crash on Northbound I-5 near milepost 276 around 6:51 a.m. on November 14th, 2019.
According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, a grey 2003 Honda Accord was traveling Northbound on I-5 near D Street in Blaine at a high rate of speed. Troopers say the driver failed to negotiate the curves in the roadway and the vehicle left the roadway to the right and stuck a cement barrier.
Troopers have not identified the name of the driver, only stating she died at the scene after first responders attempted life saving measures. A dog traveling in the vehicle also reportedly died at the scene.
It is unknown if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
The cause of the crash was listed as Speed Too Fast To Negotiate Curves.
The Vehicle was totaled and impounded by Heston Hauling for safe keeping.
Troopers say the identity of the person killed will be released once Next of Kin Notifications have been made.
