Tukwila, WA – A Snohomish County man has been charged in the hit and run death of a motorcyclist in Tukwila.

According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, around 3:53 a.m. this morning, 51-year old David Jones of Snohomish, Washington  was traveling Southbound on I-405 at State Route 167 in a white 2006 Chevy Express when he struck a 1999 Honda XR100 Motorcycle from behind.   Troopers say the force of the collision wedged the motorcycle into the bumper of the Chevy Express and Jones is alleged to have continued driving Southbound I-405 exiting to Southbound I-5 where the rider fell off the motorcycle and into the roadway.   Troopers say Jones continued to drive for approximately three more miles before pulling over and calling 9-1-1.

The motorcyclist died at the scene and has not been identified by Troopers until next of kin notification can be made.  Troopers say drugs or alcohol were not a factor in the crash.   The motorcyclist was said to be wearing a USDOT compliant helmet at the time of the crash.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Troopers say both vehicles were impounded to the Washington State Patrol Bullpen for evidence.

Charges against Jones may be amended as the investigation continues.
