Sedro Woolley, WA: Two adults have been charged with First Degree Murder and First Degree robbery in the October 2nd, 2014 Shoplifting/Robbery and Hit and Run that killed Yongmin Pak, the longtime Co-Owner of James Market in Sedro Woolley.
Matthew Tobin, 19, is accused of driving the SUV that struck and Killed Yongmin Pak. He is being held in Skagit County Jail on a $750,000 bail, charged with 1st degree murder, 1st degree robbery and Hit and Run.
Timothy Dillion, 19, is being held on $500,000 bail. Mr. Dillion was taken into custody on Wednesday when he showed up at the front counter of the Burlington Police Department. He is being charged with 1st degree murder.
Last Saturday, a 17 year old Juvenile turned himself in to authorities and he is being held in Juvenile Detention on charges associated with the shoplifting of beer from the market. The extent of his charges have not been shared. His next court appearance is on October 16th where we will learn more information.
A fourth subject, a juvenile female, is said to be cooperating with authorities and is not in police custody. It is unknown if she is being charged in the crime.
Police have served several search warrants in connection with the case. Officer served a search warrant on Wednesday in Mount Vernon where they found a gun. They do not believe the gun was used in the shoplifting/robbery.
Thursday, a Search warrant was served by the Sedro Woolley Police Department at a residence on South Lyman Ferry Road near Day Creek. This residence is reported to be a friends house of the suspects. It is reported that the suspects went to this house after hitting and killing Ms. Pak to drink the beer that they had stolen. Police were looking for beer cans to use as evidence but found much more.
An additional search warrant was obtained and officers from the Skagit County Drug Task Force, the Washington State Patrol, the Skagit County Sheriff’s Office, the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office and federal agents responded to the residence. During the search, officers found around 11-12 large garbage bags filled with Marijuana from an illegal marijuana grow and manufacturing operation. They also found approximately 50 vehicle on the property. Many of the vehicles do not have paperwork and the Washington State Patrol had confirmed at least two of the vehicles were stolen. It is possible other stolen vehicle might be there but the State Patrol will have to track down vehicle information before confirming this. At the time of this story, there had been no reported arrests in connection with the grow operation and stolen vehicles.
