Update: Theft and Robbery From Burlington Best Buy

Theft- File PhotoBurlington, WA: On Monday, May 19th, 2014, Burlington Police responded to the Best Buy store located on Market Place Drive in Burlington for reports of a theft.

The Store Manager told officers that he had attempted to contact two shoplifters after seeing them conceal a tablet in the female shoplifters purse.

The male suspect yelled at the Manager and said something similar to “don’t get hit” or “you don’t want me to punch you”. The suspect  then continued towards the manager with his hands up pushing the manager chest and then ran past him.

Both suspects exited the store and ran to their vehicle.

Another employee reported that she had  observed the suspects via CCTV cameras in the Beats Headphone and Fit Bit Aisle. She observed them take the security box off of two fit bit devices. They then moved towards the tablets and selected a Samsung Tablet.  She observed the male shoplifter open the security box. the female took the tablet and placed it down her jacket.  The subjects then moved to another aisle where they transferred the tablet into the woman’s purse.  A check of the area where the suspects had been revealed the undamaged security boxes the items were held it.

An asset protection Officer, identified the items taken as a Samsung Galaxy tablet 3 lite, valued at $159.99 and two Jawbone Brand UP24 Fit Bit Activity watches valued at $150.00 each.  The suspects were believed to have a magnetic “key” type tool which they used to gain access into the hard plastic security cases.

The store advised that 11 days earlier, the male suspect was involved with the theft of a White, 16 GB iPad mini valued at $299.99 on May 8th, 2014.  They male suspect and another accomplice had also used a magnetic key type tool to gain access to the security cases.  Both suspects were in the store for no more than 4 minutes in that theft.

Detectives were given surveillance video of the incidents and identified the suspects as, Kevin Clark, and Alicea Martini.  The manager was shown a photo line up of the suspects and identified both suspects via the photo line up.

Prior to the Burlington Thefts, on April 26th, 2014, both suspects had been previously  arrested by the Marysville Police Department and charged with Retail Theft with Special Circumstances after using a magnetic key to steal another type of activity watch from the Marysville Best Buy Store.

Arrest warrants for the Skagit County case were issued for Kevin Clark  for 2 counts of Robbery 2nd Degree and 2 counts of Retail Theft with Special Circumstances.  Alicea Martini was charged with 2 counts of Retails Theft with Special Circumstances and Robbery 2nd Degree.
