Edison, WA: Firefighters from Allen, Edison, Burlington, Alger, McLean Road, and Bay View are all battling a large structure fire near Edison on April 23rd.
Around 10:10 am, Fire units from the Allen and Edison Fire Department responded to the 6000 Block of West Edison Lane for reports of a fire that had started on a deck and was moving into a house.
Shortly after the initial reports of the fire, Medic 4 was dispatched to the scene for reports of a female with possible burns.
Responding fire and emergency medical units were notified while en route to the fire scene that a female resident went back into the home to rescue animals.
Responding fire units requested Mutual Aid from Alger Fire and Burlington Fire. Samish Island Fire also came up on the air with personnel available to respond. Medic 3 was then toned for mutual aid at the requests of MSO1 due to the reports of a person with possible burns.
Responding Fire units requested a Tanker Strike Team to respond to the scene.
The first arriving fire unit were notified that the female resident made it back out of the house, but there were animals still trapped inside.
Samish “Command” was Established by 5101 as he arrived on scene.
Tankers from McLean Road, Bay View, Mount Erie and LaConner (216, 1116,1216 and 1326) were toned as additional resources for the Tender Strike Team. 1116 was unable to respond due to the lack of a certified Tanker driver.
Update: April 25th, 2015.
We’ve learned the home pictured above, was owned by Tony and Heidi Breckenridge of Edison. Their daughter, Elly and a man named Jake Schriffrel were also staying at the home and lost everything in the fire.
Kevin Entriken, Jake Schifferl, and a good Samaritan who was driving by the residence, Daniel Menck assisted with getting Heidi and the dogs out of an upstairs window using an extension ladder. Sadie Sullivan was on the phone with Skagit 9-1-1 giving updates to emergency dispatchers.
After the fire, Sadie said, ” I thank you to the moon and back for saving these people I call my family, in reference to Kevin Entriken, Jake Schifferl and Daniel Menck who works for 2 dogs Landscaping. “You risked your life to get the dogs out and Heidi, you are an angel!”
Ultimately, Several animals and Heidi were saved in the rescue, unfortunately not all the animals could be saved.
Marc Breckenridge, Tony’s Brother, said that their Daughter Elly sustained burns on her foot & arm in the fire. Elly is out of the hospital and resting at The Cammock’s house.
Heidi sustained smoke inhalation and was transported to the hospital for evaluation. She has since been released.
Everything Jake, (who was staying with them) owned is gone. Marc states Jake wears a size 13 shoe, (needs work boots) he is 5′-11″ about 230 lbs. wears Carhartts, flannel shirts, T-shirts (2x) and what ever else.
Elly wears size 6 shoes, med to large yoga pants, med shirts.
Heidi is 7 1/2-8 shoe, med shirts, 8 pants.
Anyone wishing to donate items can drop items off at All American Armory and Sisters Espresso, both in Bow, WA.
You can also drop items off at Marc Breckenridge’s house. It is located at 7219 Farm To Market Rd. Bow, Wa.
He asks that people just leave the items on the back deck or directly take the items out to Tony’s place (West Edison Lane, mouth of the Samish River on Bay View-Edison Rd.
