Through the Washington State Adopt-A-Highway Program, the NAS Whidbey Island First Class Association and Chiefs’ Mess get their safety gear Friday, April 1, 2016 to clean a stretch of Highway 20 from Ault Field Road to the highway split leading to Regatta Drive.

The Navy Sailors spent two hours volunteering to pick up litter, collecting about 15 pounds of trash to clean up the entrance into the City of Oak Harbor.

Adopt-a-Highway is a roadside clean-up program that promotes pride and local ownership in Washington. Become an Adopt-a-Highway Volunteer and you will be doing something great for your community. In addition, your group’s effort will be recognized on a roadside sign. Thousands of miles of roadway statewide are available for adoption. Learn more about volunteering  or how to become a  business sponsor .
