Mount Vernon, Washington- A Mount Vernon woman reported to Mount Vernon Police Officers that a woman she let stay at her house for four days while she was out of town working had ransacked her house and stolen multiple items.

According to a probable cause affidavit for arrest obtained by SkagitBreaking.com, Meredith Kreide of Mount Vernon has been charged with Theft 3rd, Trafficking Stolen Property 1st and Theft of a Firearm.

The probable cause affidavit states that the homeowner, who was working  out of town arrived home to find her house completely rearranged and ransacked.  The woman that she let stay at her home, Meredith Kreide, was verbally abusive and drunk when the woman arrived home and KREIDE refused to speak with the homeowner.

Further investigation revealed the woman’s jewelry, coins and a gun were missing among other items. Officers were able to take the intoxicated woman into custody on an unrelated warrant and after a search found multiple Pawn Slips for Cash America Pawn.

The homeowner was able to verify that the items pawned were in fact stolen from her residence and KREIDE did not have permission to take them or pawn them.

Officers took KREIDE to the Skagit County Jail but she has since been released.
