Sedro Woolley, Washington– The Sedro Woolley Police Department responded to reports of a Weapons Offense around 8:49 pm in the area of North Township Street on July 224th, 2016.
According to a probable cause affidavit of arrest obtained by SkagitBreaking.com through a public records request, police were responding to reports of a man who had pointed a hand gun at a 1- year old child and pulled the trigger.
Arriving Officers made contact with a residents who advised a Darick Johnson had pointed a 9 mm hand gun at her 1-year old child and pulled the trigger. She advised the gun was now in a back pack in the residence.
Officers contacted and detained Mr. Johnson. It was later determined that Mr. Johnson was at the residence in Violation of a Domestic Violence No Contact Order and Mr. Johnson was not knowingly to enter the residence or come within 1000 feet of the residence.
Officers searched Mr. Johnsons person incident to arrest and located 4 separate small clear zip lock bags with different pills. One bag contained 28 pink pills what they suspected to be Aderall, a schedule 2 narcotic. The second bag contained 7 white round pills, later identified as Soboxone, a schedule 3 narcotic. The third bag contained 20 green rectangular pills, later confirmed to be muscle relaxers, a schedule 4 drug. A fourth bag, contained 5 yellow pills, later identified as a pill that was available by prescription only.
Mr. Johnson had $363 dollars in US currency on his person and a Washington State Quest Card that belonged to another person, who police confirmed had a history of drug use. It is common for drug users to trade their “quest card” money for drugs, but Mr. Johnson told Officers he had found the Quest Card at the bus station.
Two witnesses described to Officers that Mr. Johnson had pulled out a 9 mm hand gun and pointed it at a 1-year old child and a 14-year old teen and in both cases the witnesses said Mr. Johnson pulled the trigger after pointing the gun at the victims.
Mr. Johnson was in possession of two back pack type bags and refused to consent to a search of the bags. Officers seized the bags as evidence and later applied for and were granted search warrants for the bags.
Inside the bags, Officers found a large amount of unopened batteries in a shopping bag, an air soft pistol, which had the orange tip painted black. They also recovered an extensive amount of drug paraphernalia, including a spoon with brown residue, q-tips, syringes, scissors with brown residue, small pliers, 2 battery operated scales with brown residue and a clear pipe with white residue. In two boxes in the backpack they recovered four (4) needles full of Heroin and two plastic bags of Methamphetamine. One bag weighed 3.8 grams, the other 3.9 grams.
Mr. Johnson was arrested and booked into the Skagit County Jail on Suspicion of Possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, violation of a domestic violence No Contact Order and Aiming-Discharging Firearms, dangerous weapon. He is being held in lieu of $20,000 bail.
