King County, WA – The Washington State Patrol responded to a fatal crash on Southbound I-5 just North of Albro at Milepost 161 in King County in the early morning hours of January 11th, 2017.
According to a press memo from WSP Trooper Rick Johnson, WSP Sergeant Chong Yim observed a vehicle traveling Southbound I-5 in the Northbound Lanes around 2:05 am.
Sergeant Yim notified other WSP Troopers in the area of the wrong way driver and Troopers made an attempt to intercept the vehicle.

The wrong way driver, later identified as 46-year old Angela Mora of Eugene, Oregon, continued driving her red 1998 Ford Expedition Southbound on I-5 in the Northbound Lanes. Around 2:07 a.m., she struck a 2013 Chevrolet Tri-Med Ambulance that was traveling Northbound I-5 in the HOV lane, just north of Michigan Street. The ambulance driver, identified as 29-year old Allystyr Paschal of Seattle, severed in an attempt to avoid the collision but was struck on the left side.

The wrong way driver, Angela Mora was pronounced dead at the scene. The ambulance driver, Mr. Paschal was injured and transported to Harborview Medical Center for Treatment. Two Passengers in the ambulance, a medic and a patient were also transported to Harborview Medical Center with injuries. They were identified as 40-year old Sandra Boughner of Federal Way and 18-year old Melvin Valles-Sevila of Kent.

Both vehicles were totaled and impounded to Gary’s Westside Towing.
All Lanes of I-5 were blocked in the area for four hours and eleven minutes until Washington State Patrol Accident Investigators completed their investigation.
Troopers suspect impairment on the part of the wrong way driver contributed to the crash but toxicology reports are pending on the deceased driver.
