Arrest Made in Robbery of Cook Road Shell

Robbery Arrest

Skagit County, WA – The Skagit County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported Robbery in progress on March 14th, 2017 at the Cook Road Shell Gas Station in the 9900 block of Old Highway 99 North Road.

Witnesses told Deputies that a male came into the store with a brown lunch bag in his hand. He was reported to be wearing black shorts, brown shoes and a half white and half black zip up jacket over a red hoodie.  The man  had his hood over his head and pulled up tight and was wearing sunglasses.  The male allowed a few customers to go ahead of him in line.

A second cashier came up and  asked if she could help the man.  At this time, the witnesses said the man walked up to the counter and told the cashier he had a gun and would shoot her if she did not put all the cash into the bag.  The cashier replied with “Are you fuc*** kidding me?” The male again told the cashier to put the money in the bag or he would kill her.  The cashier again asked the man if he was serious.  Witnesses said the man waited a few seconds and said yes he was joking and he  pulled his hood down and took off his sunglasses as he ran out of the store, leaving the brown bag behind.

Witnesses followed him and watched him get into a white Toyota 4-Runner and they obtained his license plate number. The license plate returned to an address out of Bonney Lake, Washington.  Local Police and Troopers from the Washington State Patrol attempted to located the vehicle but were unsuccessful.

Bonney Lake Police were contacted and they  contacted the registered owner of the vehicle and she stated her grandson, 19-year old Kyle Floyd had the car and was in Skagit County with his girlfriend.

Skagit County Sheriff’s Deputies compared the suspects drivers license photo to the gas station surveillance video and it appeared to be the same person.

An Off-Duty Sheriff’s Deputy who was listening to the police scanner traffic on the radio observed the suspect vehicle driving down I-5 in the Everett area.  The Deputy contacted the Washington State Patrol who was able to make a traffic stop on the vehicle in the area of I-405 near Bellevue, Washington.  Mr. Floyd was driving the vehicle and wearing clothing that matched the description of the Robbery Suspect given to police by witnesses.

Mr. Floyd denied committing the attempted Robbery and stated he did not go to the Cook Road Shell Station.  He was arrested and the vehicle was impounded so Deputies could obtain a search warrant for the vehicle.

Kyle Floyd was booked into the Skagit County Jail for 1st Degree Attempted Robbery and he is currently being held in lieu of $25,000 bail.
