Burlington, WA – The Burlington Police Department was contacted on March 20th, 2017 about a theft which had occurred at Fred Meyer in Burlington.
According to a press release from Burlington Police Officers Mike Lumpkin, Detectives were able to identify the theft suspect through surveillance video. Due to the large nature of the theft, and as part of the investigation, Officers checked online “person to person” sales sites and were able to determine that the suspect(s) had been selling numerous items online. Many of the items sold or for sale were identified as potentially stolen property.

On 3/22/17 and 3/23/17 officers executed search warrants at two locations associated with the suspect and recovered hundreds of items of suspected stolen merchandise. Most of the recovered property was new, in its packaging and with store tags on it. Preliminary estimates of the total value of the recovered property are in excess of $10000. Investigators are still pulling actual values and are expecting that number to grow. One suspect is in custody at this time and has been booked on investigation of Theft 1st degree, Trafficking in stolen property 1st and multiple counts of Retail Theft with Extenuating Circumstances. Parts of this investigation are still ongoing.
