Suspect in Custody for Stanwood Robberies

Stanwood, Wa- On Jan. 16, 2018 the Snohomish County Violent Offender Task Force apprehended a suspect linked to the recent Stanwood robberies.

  According to a Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office news release, the arrest was made at around 7 p.m. without incident.

   The suspect is a 35 year-old male by the name of Colt Joshua Borgeson. The Stanwood Police Department has booked Borgeson into the Snohomish County Jail on three counts of first degree robbery. His bail has been set to $100,000, according to the Snohomish County jail booking register.

  The string of robberies that Borgeson has been attributed to began with the robbery of a Stanwood gas station on Dec. 28, 2017. Two days later, Dec. 30, 2017, Borgeson hit up the same gas station, he was carrying a silver revolver and made off with approximately $625 and cigarettes according to a probable cause affidavit. He reportedly apologized repeatedly as he fled the store. 

  On Jan. 12, 2018 a Stanwood Credit Union was robbed just before closing time. The suspect slid a piece of paper to the teller informing them that he had a gun and instructed the employee to put the money in a bag.

  After his mother and brother had seen Borgeson’s photo in news reports they went to the police. The suspect was found in Shoreline, where the Snohomish County Violent Offender Task Force took him into custody.

  Other local Police Departments are investigating whether Borgeson is linked to any other similar crimes.
