Burlington, WA: Seattle police said a threatening text message that set off an hour long lockdown at the ( SPU)Seattle Pacific University campus has led to a Skagit County woman’s arrest.
Seattle Detective Drew Fowler says an SPU student received the message from a former girlfriend, who reportedly said she would kill him and his friends. The lock down was lifted after an hour once Seattle Police confirmed the woman was in Skagit County, and posed no immediate threat to the SPU Campus. Originally the woman claimed to be at the SPU Campus when she sent the text message.
Skagit County Sheriff deputies arrested the woman at a home outside of Burlington. They planned to transfer the woman to the Seattle police before she would be booked into the King County Jail in Seattle for investigation of harassment. Additional charges of threats to kill could be added to her list of charges.
The threats came a week after a student at Marysville-Pilchuck High School in Marysville, Washington opened fire in the schools cafeteria after inviting his friends to lunch via text message. The shooter killed several students before turning the gun on himself and taking his own life.
SPU was also the scene of a shooting in Seattle on June 5, 2014 that left one student dead and two wounded. The suspect in that shooting has plead not guilty to one count of premeditated first-degree murder, three counts of attempted first-degree murder and one count of second-degree assault.
