Skagit County, WA– The Department of Emergency Management has released two press releases this morning in reference to the expected Skagit River Flooding.
6:56 am River Levels in Concrete and Mount Vernon:
· Concrete – 29.08 feet at 6:15 am and falling
· Mount Vernon – 27.19 feet at 6:00 am and rising
9:00 am River Levels in Concrete and Mount Vernon:
· Concrete – 28.92 feet at 8:15 am
· Mount Vernon – 27.79 feet at 8:00 am
11:00 am River Levels in Concrete and Mount Vernon
The most recent river levels are as follows:
· Concrete – 29.27 feet at 10:15 am
· Mount Vernon – 28.35 feet at 10:30 am
According to the latest press memo, The Skagit River at Concrete crested at 1:45 am this morning at 30.14 feet, as posted by the USGS. This was three feet below the forecast-ed crest of 33.3 feet.
The River continues to rise in Mount Vernon and a crest of 28.54 feet is forecast-ed at 4:00 pm this afternoon. Flood stage for both locations is 28 feet.
The American Red Cross set up two emergency shelters. One shelter is set up at the St. Catherine Catholic Mission in Concrete, at 45603 Limestone Street.
The second shelter is set up at the Hamilton First Baptist Church, located at 797 Hamilton Cemetery Road.
The shelters are intended for people that need to evacuate to escape the flooding.
Given the falling river levels, the shelters plan to close later today.

The Emergency Coordination Center is in the process of demobilization and will be closed early this afternoon. Emergency Management personnel will continue to monitor the weather and river levels.
