UPDATE: Child Lied About Attempted Abduction in Sedro-Woolley

Sedro Woolley, Washington- UPDATE 1:06 PM from the Sedro Woolley Police Department: After an extensive investigation by Detectives and Patrol Officers,  it has been found the report of an attempted child abduction in the area of North Reed Street around 9:30 am this morning was not true. No attempted abduction took place.  The child made up the story because they did not want to go to school and has an active imagination.

Sedro Woolley, Washington-  The Sedro Woolley Police Department Responded to a suspicious complaint around 9:30 am this morning in the area of North Reed St and Cedar Tree Drive.

A 9-1-1 caller was calling to report she had contacted a child running through the area screaming that a male had tried to grab her. Sedro- Woolley Police Officers responded to the area and the child was unhurt and  safe with family members.

Sedro-Woolley Officers set up containment with the assistance of Burlington Police Officers, Washington State Patrol Troopers,  Upper Skagit Tribal Police Officers and Deputies from the Skagit County Sheriff’s Office.  A K9 track of the area was conducted but was unsuccessful in locating a suspect.

The descriptions of the subject involved is a male with brown hair, wearing a red shirt and stripped pants.

The male was reported to be  possibly with a juvenile male between 6-11 years old. They child said they were  last seen northbound on foot from the area.

Officers and Detectives continued to investigate the story and have determined the child lied about the attempted abduction to get out of going to school.
